Easy DIY Halloween Tutu
Easy DIY Halloween Tutu
Hello my fellow Halloween lovers! Tomorrow is officially fall, who else is excited!? I am so glad that I have a kid that loves fall holidays as much as I do. Every year at my daughters school they are not allowed to dress up in full Halloween costumes, but they are allowed to dress in Halloween clothing. So I thought it would be fun to make a DIY Halloween Tutu for my daughter to wear! Something that has always amazed me is the price of tutu’s either in store or online. They can get super expensive. This project cost me $5 total, and turned out pretty cute in my oh-so-humble opinion. Would you like to learn how to make one for yourself? Let’s check it out!
Here is how to make my DIY Halloween Tutu:
You Will Need:
- Tulle (For Halloween I used black and orange, but you could use any colors you wanted! I used 4 rolls of tulle for a child’s size tutu, I found the rolls for $1 at WalMart)
- Ribbon
- Optional: plastic spider/bat rings (I found mine at the dollar tree)
- Scissors
Step 1: Cut your tulle into strips. You will want to cut them twice as long as you want to tutu to fall. (Note- if you use glitter tulle, glitter is going to get everywhere. and I do mean everywhere. I made this tutu a week ago and I still have glitter on my couch.)
Step 2: Take your ribbon and measure around the waist of who you are making the tutu for. Make sure you leave excess on both ends so you have room to tie a bow in the back. Use a sharpie to mark where your tulle strands will begin and end.
Step 3: Now it’s time to start working! Starting at one end of your ribbon you will take a piece of tulle and make a loop at the top with your fingers. Then pull your tulle through the loop which will tie it to the ribbon. Pull it tight! I did 4 rows of one color, then 4 rolls of the other.
Step 4: After you have gone all the way around your tutu, now it’s time to accessorize! I found some little plastic spider and bat rings and thought they would be super cute. I just tied them around once in every color. My daughter helped with this part and thought it was super fun!
And that’s it! How easy was that right!? Now you (or your little one) will be ready for any Halloween festivities! I hope you enjoy!
