Quick Birthday Party Ideas
Quick Birthday Party Ideas
I have a cupcake problem. I also have a budget for each party I throw. I have a tendency to take my parties to the next level without breaking the bank. There are two things that are important to me at any great party, they are the people and the food and sometimes it isn’t in that order. I also need quick birthday party ideas because I have three kids and a job.
Quick Birthday Party Ideas
This was my idea for an inexpensive and fun activity to do at any party. It will work with both boys and girls, children or adults. We all have the desire to create. You will need the following items.
1) Cupcakes (buy them or make them)
2) food coloring
3) paint brushes
4) paint trays (craft stores under $2 a piece or you can just use cups
5) candy
6) cupcake liners if you made your own
The easiest thing to do is drop into a dollar store and grab a tablecloth because kids and paint require a tablecloth. You can buy candy or adornments in various colors or themes. You can also just use what you have on hand or let the kids paint them with food coloring, this can be as easy or complicated as you want. The best part is it is an activity that foster’s creativity and it’s dessert. If you wanted you could actually have part of the party be about baking the cupcakes and then icing them and then decorating them. You can truly throw a baking party for under $20. I can’t tell you how much my children enjoyed this quick birthday party idea. I know that my kids also like to take pictures so you could set up a set using a piece of scrapbook paper for the children to place their cupcake on and then snap a picture or two of their creation. You can make cupcakes in all shapes and sizes and flavor options. I just love my cupcake pan.
And if you have a party guest that is gluten free trader joes makes a super cupcake that is chocolate with vanilla buttercream frosting as shown in the pictures for $1 a cupcake.
I found some great cupcake toppers as well on Amazon.
You can also have the kids make mocktails we have some amazing recipes for those. Check out how to make your own DIY invites, Use our Party Planning checklist, Party Budget Planning Tips and be sure to check our our great themed party ideas for

This is a great idea and wished I had read this before my great grand daughter’s birthday. She turned 2 in April and got her a Spongebob cake. She loves cupcakes and would’ve made some for the party.

Very cute idea. Kids parties can really get out of hand. This is good not only to stay on budget, but also to occupy the kids.

Clever idea. Kids love to decorate their OWN cupcakes. I’m impressed with the fancy, plain white icing. Mine doesn’t look that good. thanks for sharing.

I love butter cream frosting. Cupcakes are the perfect serving size. Cake goes stale too quick if not eaten the same day. Who can do that outside of a party setting.

I’m all for buying a cake instead of baking one. Some people have an artistic flare when it comes to that. Not me!

Good ideas. I like when the kids are young. It’s easy to plan a small party. When they get older, not so much.

Birthday parties are so much fun for the little ones. Hectic for the parent at times, but worth it.

I love sixlets. They would taste good on cupcakes. While I love the fancy cakes that I see online, I’m not very good in the kitchen. It would be a disaster! Cupcakes are perfect and less messy.

Even though a birthday party for a child can be hectic, keep it simple. I think the elaborate parties are staged more for the adults. The kids just enjoy having friends over, the attention and of course the sweets!

I don’t even recall at what age the birthday party becomes a big deal to the kids. I know for me, when the kids turned one I baked a cake and let them go at it. Of course, there wasn’t a party outside of family. They don’t remember at that age.
