This is a great idea and wished I had read this before my great grand daughter’s birthday. She turned 2 in April and got her a Spongebob cake. She loves cupcakes and would’ve made some for the party.

Very cute idea. Kids parties can really get out of hand. This is good not only to stay on budget, but also to occupy the kids.

Clever idea. Kids love to decorate their OWN cupcakes. I’m impressed with the fancy, plain white icing. Mine doesn’t look that good. thanks for sharing.

I love butter cream frosting. Cupcakes are the perfect serving size. Cake goes stale too quick if not eaten the same day. Who can do that outside of a party setting.

I’m all for buying a cake instead of baking one. Some people have an artistic flare when it comes to that. Not me!

Good ideas. I like when the kids are young. It’s easy to plan a small party. When they get older, not so much.

I really like the idea of the kids having candies available to create their own cupcakes. It would be fun for them.

Birthday parties are so much fun for the little ones. Hectic for the parent at times, but worth it.

I love sixlets. They would taste good on cupcakes. While I love the fancy cakes that I see online, I’m not very good in the kitchen. It would be a disaster! Cupcakes are perfect and less messy.

Even though a birthday party for a child can be hectic, keep it simple. I think the elaborate parties are staged more for the adults. The kids just enjoy having friends over, the attention and of course the sweets!

I don’t even recall at what age the birthday party becomes a big deal to the kids. I know for me, when the kids turned one I baked a cake and let them go at it. Of course, there wasn’t a party outside of family. They don’t remember at that age.
