In my next post fashion post you can tell I am a girl on a mission. I am trying to make what I have work in a whole new way. Don’t you hate when you have a pair of shoes and then they get all scuffed. They start to look horrible and you come to the realization that you have to either repurpose them or throw them out. I also have an issue where I see something and I want it. Then I decide I can make that myself so I figure out how to do it on my own. That happen with this how to make a fabric necklace post.
I just really like to make something new out of something old. I love fashion but I can’t afford to spend a ton of money on every trend. I guess it is just how I learned to spend less and get what I want. I saw those boot covers and decided I wanted some until I saw the price tag so I figured out how to make them out of a sweater.
Well anyway back to the shoes. I have a lot of shoes. I had these crocs that I bought for $2.00 at Goodwill. I never really wore them except to the beach. I saw a pair of hand painted Gator shoes and I decided that for $2.00 I could risk these shoes and try to paint my own. I am not really a painter but why not try. The shoes above are what I was able to do. I can look at things and paint them. You can tell I do not have any real training but I enjoy painting when I have a minute. I also like making things that no one else has.
I bought the paints below they work on leather. I will let you know how well they hold up on the plastic. I felt that I would only wear these shoes on game day so it would be okay to try the paint on the plastic. I will also share shoes I painted as I complete them. I hope this helped you rescue an old pair of shoes that you love and find them a new life.
This is how to paint shoes.
1) Wash the shoe with a damp clothe remove all dirt and debris.
2) Apply the cleaner that goes with the paint
3) Outline your design with a pencil
4) Paint your design. The paints will work just like normal paints.
5) Let the paint dry
6) Apply the finisher for the paint you buy.
The paint below is the one I bought and I loved how my shoes turned out.

I had no idea you could paint shoes – what a great idea, especially if you have a child who is really into something – paint them some special shoes with their interest on it! Love it for game days too like you did!
