How To Make Salt Dough Pirate Coins
Arrrg Mateys! I hope everyone is having a fantastic week! We are 1 week away from school starting and I was looking for something fun to do with my daughter before she goes back. So each day this week we picked a theme and planned our day around it. Today was pirate day! So we decided to have a treasure hunt. But first we needed some treasure! So I wanted to share with you how to make salt dough pirate coins for your own treasure hunt. It’s super easy!
Here is how to make Salt Dough Pirate Coins:
You Will Need:
- 2 Cups Flour
- 1 Cup Salt
- 1 Cup water
- Gold Paint
Step 1: In a bowl mix together your salt and flour together.
Step 2: SLOWLY add in your water. Only a little bit at a time, and mix as your pour.
Step 3: After you have mixed, you will notice your dough has been formed! Scoop your dough out onto a pan and preheat your oven to 325 degrees.
Step 4: Roll your dough out with a rolling pin and find something to use as a coin punch. Anything round will do. As you can see in the image above, I used a shot glass haha!
Step 5: Bake your coins at 325 for about an hour. Check them after about 30 minutes and see if they are hard.
Step 6: Now it’s time to give out coins their shine! We decided to go with gold because we all know pirates love gold! You could also paint them silver, or any color you wanted really! After painting them gold let them dry, then paint some black x’s over the top!
That’s it! How easy and fun was that!? They last forever and can be customize in so many different ways! I hope you enjoy!
