How To Make Glitter Gak
How To Make Glitter Gak
Summer is upon us, which means the kids are home all day. I don’t know about in your house, but in my house I am already getting the “Mom, I’m bored!” statements. I try to make sure my daughter has things to keep her occupied while I’m working, because sadly, us adults don’t get a summer break right!? Making DIY projects is one of my daughters favorite things to do and I love doing projects with her! That is where this DIY Glitter Gak idea comes from!
While at the store grocery shopping we came across this really awesome and vibrant glitter glue so we picked it up knowing we could find something to do with it later. Then I remembered an old recipe for homemade gak and I knew I had to try it out! This will literally take you 2 minutes to make and it is SO much fun! Let’s check it out…
Here is what you will need to make this DIY Glitter Gak:
- 6 oz Glitter glue (We used Elmers and you could either get pink, blue, or green). You could also get clear glue and add in your own glitter and food coloring if you want.
- 3/4 cups water
- 1/2 cup HOT water
- 1/2 tsp Borax
First, grab a bowl and pour your glitter glue in it. Add in your 3/4 cup water and whisk to combine.
Next, in a smaller bowl combine your hot water and borax. Stir until borax is dissolved. Pour your borax and water mix into your glitter glue.
Then, watch the magic happen! As soon as your pour your borax mixture in the DIY Glitter Gak will start to form! You can lightly stir the mix to help the process along. Once the gak has formed, let it sit until most of the water is absorbed. Then take it out and have some fun!
Make sure to store in an airtight container and should last forever! Enjoy!
