How To Make Easy And Fun Heart Shaped Fruit Hand Pies -Valentines Day will be here before you know it! Every year my family and I make sure to make it a fun themed day for all to enjoy. This includes heart shaped everything, pink milk for breakfast, fun decorations and more. When I was growing up my parents made a big deal out of every holiday so I aim to do the same for my daughter. And lucky for me we are in a school district that still allows us to bring homemade treats on holidays so my daughter and I always love to get a little creative in the kitchen for her classmates!
This year for Valentines Day my daughter and I decided to make some fun and easy heart shaped fruit hand pies for her classmates this year. I asked her to take a survey on her classmates favorite fruit and we headed to the store! Would you like to learn how to make heart shaped fruit hand pies? Well then keep reading!
Here is How To Make Easy And Fun Heart Shaped Fruit Hand Pies:
You Will Need:
- Premade Pie Crust (Unless you want to make your own, then go for it!)
- Fruit Pie Filling (We used cherry, blueberry, and peach!)
- Egg Wash (egg and milk whisked together)
- Sugar Crystals
- Heart Cookie Cutter
Step 1: Thaw out your pie dough and preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2: Roll your pie dough out flat and use your cookie cutter to punch out heart shapes. a 10 inch pie crust should give you about 6 hand pies.
Step 3: lay your heart shaped dough on a greased baking sheet. Place a small amount of your fruit pie filling in the center of each hand pie. Using your egg wash around the edges of each pie.
Step 4: Place another piece of dough on top and use a fork to crimp the edges together. Use a knife and create an X shape in the middle. Top with sugar crystals and bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown.
